A concise description of systems factors in patient’s low health literacy

My doctor said I have a virus and I should “act like I’m sick.”  So I’m resting and taking lots of fluids
and reading Salman Rushdie’s Luca and the Fire of Life.  To my surprise, I found in this fabulous foray
into the World of Magic a pair acronyms that might have originated in the World of Medicine.  Each
elegantly describes a health systems factor that limits patients’ ability to obtain, process and understand
information needed to make appropriate health decisions:
